Triceratops Skeleton
Scope of Work:
The 1903 massive skeleton of triceratops
was in serious disrepair and in danger of
collapse. Scansite traveled to Washington
and spent 6 weeks in dinosaur hall
digitizing each bone of the fragile specimen.
The resulting data was re-assembled into
the first complete digital dinosaur ever!
Next, the information was input into an
animation program to determine just how
triceratops would have moved. Additionally,
it was revealed that triceratops was actually
constructed from 16 different animals, so
the decision was made to make an exact
duplicate of a new skull scaled properly to
fit the rest of the skeleton.
