The measured data alone, however, lacks mathematical qualities so it’s necessary to have an IGES or STEP file built, in reverse engineering software, over the 3D scan data. This critical step gives mathematic qualities to the 3D scan data to allow a CAD package, such as SolidWorks, ProE, Catia, Rhino, or AutoCAD, to recognize and work with it.
